The new typefaces for the German federal government

The custom typefaces for the Federal Government—BundesSans and BundesSerif—were above all designed for outstanding legibility for online an offline applications. The Sans and Serif are closely related families, indirectly based on the humanist idea of writing combined with a more rational, contemporary idea of type design, giving it an overall friendly, open look. Both typefaces were designed and developed in cooperation with Prof. Jürgen Huber (TypeDepartment.de) for MetaDesign, who was assigned to update the corporate design of the federal government.
